Fraser Coast Cafés and casual dining that work with kids
A children’s menu alone does not make eating out easy. Families also care about space, speed, highchairs, noise, toilets, pram access and whether children have something to do while they wait.
This is a practical shortlist, not a ranking or endorsement. Features, menus and promotions change. Confirm the details that matter to your family before making a special trip, and supervise children in every play area.
Every venue included below offers a children’s menu. Menu choices, age limits and serving times can change, so check the current menu if this is important to your visit.

Bay Central Tavern
Location: 155 Boat Harbour Drive, Pialba
Best for: A family bistro meal with an on-site playground
Bay Central Tavern combines casual bistro dining with a children’s playground. It is a practical option when children need somewhere to play while the family has a longer lunch or dinner.
Good to know: Check playground’s age suitability, enclosure and visibility from table. Ask for seating near the play area and supervise children throughout the visit.
Enzo’s on the Beach
Location: 351A Esplanade, Scarness
Best for: A casual meal paired with beach or foreshore time
Enzo’s sits directly on the Scarness beachfront. Its location makes it easy to combine a meal or snack with the nearby playground, foreshore paths or beach, without expecting the café itself to provide a play area.
Good to know: The beachfront is open and close to water. Live music and busy weekend periods may not suit children who need a quieter setting. Book ahead when timing or seating matters.
Sea Breeze Cafe
Location: Shop 2, 363 Charlton Esplanade, Scarness
Best for: Breakfast or lunch with babies and younger children
Sea Breeze advertises highchairs, outdoor seating, accessible toilets and baby-change facilities. Those practical basics can make a short café visit easier for families with babies and toddlers.
Good to know: There is no advertised play area. Ask about current highchair availability, pram access and wait times during busy periods.
Salt Cafe
Location: 569 Charlton Esplanade, Urangan
Best for: A café meal near the Esplanade and Urangan Pier
Salt has a bay-facing Esplanade location and offers children’s breakfast and lunch choices. It works well as a food stop before or after a walk along the foreshore, a visit to the pier or another Urangan activity.
Good to know: There is no advertised play area. Confirm current opening hours and seating availability if travelling specifically for the visit.
The Bayswater Bar & Grill
Location: 569–571 Esplanade, Urangan
Best for: A weekend family meal with regular entertainment
The Bayswater combines waterfront dining with recurring family activities. Sunday Family Trivia is regularly advertised, along with weekend face painting at selected times.
Good to know: Activities and times can change, and exclusions may apply on public holidays. Entertainment and live music can make the venue busy or noisy, so book ahead and confirm the current program.
Kondari Hotel
Location: 49–63 Elizabeth Street, Urangan
Best for: A relaxed family meal in a spacious lagoon and garden setting
Kondari has a family bistro within extensive grounds surrounding a natural lagoon. The property also advertises children’s play areas, making it worth considering when families want more space than a standard café provides.
Good to know: Confirm whether the advertised play areas are available to bistro visitors and where they are located in relation to the dining area. The lagoon and broader grounds require active adult supervision.
Goody’s on the Beach
Location: 54 Moreton Street, Toogoom
Best for: A casual waterfront outing outside central Hervey Bay
Goody’s offers casual outdoor dining in a waterfront Toogoom setting. It is particularly useful when families want the meal to form part of a scenic drive or a longer visit to Toogoom.
Good to know: The waterfront setting is the main family attraction rather than an on-site playground. Live music, events and weekend crowds can change the atmosphere, so check what is scheduled before visiting.
Portside Cafe and Restaurant
Location: 103 Wharf Street, Maryborough
Best for: A café meal combined with Maryborough’s heritage precinct
Portside is located within Maryborough’s historic Wharf Street precinct. It is a useful option for families wanting to combine breakfast or lunch with a walk through the heritage area and nearby public spaces.
Good to know: Confirm opening hours, highchair availability, pram access and the current children’s choices when booking.
Carriers Arms Bistro
Location: 405 Alice Street, Maryborough
Best for: A pub meal when an indoor children’s space matters
The Carriers Arms has a dedicated children’s entertainment room suitable for children aged 3 to 13. Its position near the bistro makes it one of the clearer Maryborough options when an indoor activity space is important.

Maryborough Services Club
Location: 163–175 Lennox Street, Maryborough
Best for: A club meal with an indoor children’s room
Maryborough Services Club has a Kids Club room with games, television and a play area. It also advertises a regular Monday kids-eat-free offer for eligible children when an adult main meal is purchased.
Good to know: Purchase, age and meal conditions apply to the offer. Ask about supervision requirements, room availability, highchairs and baby-change facilities when booking.
Old Sydney Hotel
Location: Corner of Ellena and Richmond streets, Maryborough
Best for: A relaxed pub meal with an outdoor playground
The Old Sydney Hotel has an outdoor children’s playground positioned so parents can keep an eye on children from the dining area. It is a practical option when outdoor play is more important than a quiet café atmosphere.
Good to know: Ask for a table with a clear view of the playground. Confirm whether the play area is enclosed and suitable for your children’s ages, particularly when visiting with toddlers.
